Happy 2010! We here all wish you much happiness and prosperity in the New Year. By now I’m sure you’ve put together some notes on what you want to look for at the winter shows. One thing I hope you have on the list — jewelry and other small pieces like key chains and change purses. These are the kinds of things that can serve as an impulse buy or an “add on” sale. I know that I have and I’m sure many other women have bought many a pair of earrings on impulse.
These small accessories can be that something extra that makes a gift a little more special, that gives a piece of clothing more of a personality or completes an outfit. They are very much a “me” gift — something you can buy and not feel guilty about.
And these are the pieces — according to giftware manufacturers, show managers, and most important, many retailers, that sell. Put them along side clothing in vignettes or group them by color to freshen up your shop for a new year. Train your sales associates to say, “You know what would go well with that” if applicable.
And speaking of ways to freshen up your shop, this month we’re bringing you many ideas to attract people to your shop and keep them coming back.
Mary shows you some charming plush products that help bring comfort to more than just the person receiving the present.
Ashley takes a look at some great giftware inspired by nature, which are in many cases eco-friendly as well.
What’s that melodious sound in the air? Ashley will also let you know what’s new in music.
Gifts for men is always a tough category for retailers. This month Mary offers an approach that will bring smiles to both retailers and recipients.
Collegiate giftware is as popular as ever and it’s expanding into new products. I’ll show you what will draw the fans in.
And don’t forget to get the latest information and products about what is going to be at winter shows in our Market Sections.
