Tony Gross, owner of A Cheerful Giver, sees retailers generally more cautious in buying. “Retailers have a need to present new, unique products that spur repeated customer visits. I believe that if you are unique and creative in your offerings and promotions, you will gain continued sales."

“Our best-selling products continue to be our fruit and home-baked goods selections. Juicy apple is one of our most sought after fragrances. The deep reds, whites and greens will be in demand this holiday season."

“For 2009, I still see cautious retailers and the fourth quarter will be a key indicator of 2009. The candle market will continue to play a significant role in retailer offerings. The great price point and value created by an enhanced home fragrance has and will continue to brighten consumers in any economy."

“Selling candles is more of an art. First, focus on the color the customer is seeking- what matches the room the candle is going in. Once you have the color, help them find the fragrance they like. Your sales will continue to rise as customers come back time and time again,” he says.
